How I visited Azeroth’s fires June 23, 2008

It’s Midsummer Fire Festival. I don’t know about you guys, but from the moment I first set eyes on the Brazier of Dancing Flames, I knew I had to have one. So. Last night I spent a couple of (couple of) hours zipping around Azeroth clicking on fires.

I couldn’t find any guides on how to best tackle the task of accessing all of the fires, so I came up with my own crude, hand-drawn maps. I have transcribed my route here. My way may not be the best way … but I’d like to think it’s pretty darn close!

Instructions are very succinct. Each instruction is made up of a mode of travel and a destination. Where the name of a location is bolded, there is a fire to be honoured, desecrated, or stolen at that location. For neutral locations (i.e., goblin towns), you will have to do both honour and desecrate before moving on.

This guide applies to Alliance players only!

You did so much better than me. I went back and forth and back and forth. I was so excited when I saw the possibilities, I didn’t even bother alt-tabbing and checking anywhere on-line for where the fires were, I just rode off and then I’d go “oh yeah, there’s a horde city near the entrance to AB” and fly there. I did the whole of the Eastern Kingdoms until I thought to look it up on Wowwiki, and then I made a list much like yours.

Don’t know if you still need blossoms or not, but there’s fires in Outland as well. ^_^

  2. Pookies Says:

LOL! That’s cool, I think that’s probably the way a lot of people tackled it!

And I did grab the Outland fires, but I didn’t really do them in any “order” since I just used Epic Flight Form to go from fire to fire. I just started at Shattrath and went counter clockwise from zone to zone until I ended up in Terokkar again! 🙂

  3. Jive Says:

Yeah you were much more organised about it then I was. I did about 1/2 of Kalimdor before two other guildies met up with me at Orgrimmar and only then did we try and figure out an efficient way. 😛

Seen any PvP from stealing/desecrating Horde fires?

A shadow priest saw me outside of Orgrimmar and chased me off to the side and proceeded to empty her mana bar and mine. When I was still at full health she started whacking me w/ her staff. ; ; It went on for like ten minutes until she called a rogue friend to finish the job, doh.

So what’re you gonna buy? 😛

  4. Pookies Says:

Ouch about that rogue, how dirty. 😛

I personally got ganked inside Orgrimmar (after I stole the fire) and outside Undercity (after I stole the fire). The horde near the fires I was desecrating didn’t bug me, in general. There was this one tauren druid from a prominent horde guild who tried to chase me down in Feralas, but it was way to easy to get away.

There was a horde paladin putting the flame out at Feathermoon Stronghold and then waiting for a boat with me. She was getting attacked by the guard, and winning by only a very small margin … so I started healing the guard. She had to bubble and heal, and she was soon very OOM, but I didn’t finish her off when we got into the boat. In hindsight, I probably should have …

Anyway, I got the Brazier … how about you?

  5. Jive Says:

lol @ the paladin story. Who knows, maybe one day you’ll see them again and be glad you hadn’t.

I brought the brazier too! If the pet had been the mini fire elemental instead of the red blob, I might have bought it. I don’t find Ahune as epic an event as Headless Horseman was, so I probably won’t be getting it either.

  6. Pookies Says:

I checked out the guild tag on the paladin and I didn’t recognize it, so I don’t know if I had anything to worry about. I didn’t check all those level 20 horde that I Moonfired to death though … hopefully they won’t hold any grudges. 🙂

The pet is cool, but the Brazier was definitely my first choice. I’ll probably use my leftover blossoms on the clothes.

As far as Ahune goes, I haven’t attempted him yet. Part of me wants to try to get that enchant, but … meh.

  7. Tryyss Says:

man, it’d be so much easier if we were mages =\

  8. Pookies Says:

    Yesh, nerf Mages IMO.

Also, thanks to your comment I added Teleport: Moonglade which will save a LOT of time for druids doing the Kalimdor leg of the tour.
